Preparing your quilt

Please do not baste your quilt with either pins or thread as the top, batting and backing are each loaded separately on the quilt frame.

Use a safety pin, or attach a small piece of paper with a safety pin to identify the "head" or top of the quilt top. Do the same for the backing, if provided.

Please remove selvages before you piece the backing as doing so will allow the backing to be quilted with less chance of puckering.

If you are providing the backing or batting, it must be a minimum of 6" larger on each side of the squared-up quilt top. (8" larger is preferred)

If you are using a pieced backing, it will not be possible to center the back top-to-bottom relative to the quilt top due to the way it is loaded on the frame and "creepage". If you have questions about this, please ask me.

Please clip all threads.

Press your quilt top and backing prior to shipping.  Press all seams in the direction where they will lay the flattest. ($25 per hour charge if we have to do it for you.)

Please do not add any embellishments prior to quilting.

Square your backing and seam it to the correct size to avoid additional charges. ($25 per hour if we square the quilt top or backing.)

If the quilt is pieced to the edge (no outside border), please stay-stitch slightly less than 1/4" all the way around the outside to keep the edges in place during quilting.

Backing should be all-cotton. Please, no bed sheets - they are densely woven and hard to penetrate with the needle, causing skipped stitches, etc.

Print the order form from our website, fill it out and include it with your quilt. Make a copy for yourself.
